Kadlec Medical Center and the Richland Fire Department have launched a community outreach project called Vial of Life.

Here’s how you use it. Pick up a free vial at any of the locations listed below, and fill out the medical information form inside. Put the form back in the vial and store it in your refrigerator. Then post the enclosed magnet on your refrigerator. In the event paramedics are called to your home and you’re unable to communicate, they can check your fridge to see if you have a Vial of Life. They can then access your medical information in the course of treating your condition.

The free vials will be available at the following locations:

-Richland Fire Department
-Kadlec Medical Center
-Yoke’s Fresh Markets in West Richland, Kennewick and Pasco
-KNDU-TV
